CMC Gives Away Over a Hundred Turkeys and 700 Blankets

Posted on: 20 November 2017

On Saturday, November 18, the Carbondale Muslim Center hosted its third annual Turkey Giveaway.  This year CMC also gave away winter blankets for adults and babies.  Over a hundred turkeys and 700 hundred blankets were distributed to neighbors in need.  A meal was also provided to the recipients as they waited for their turn to collect their turkey and blankets.

Community member, Moosa Kamran, got the idea to distribute blankets after working with low-income families and noticing that many suffer through the winter without proper bedding.  He went on to raise $10,000 for the winter blanket giveaway.

In previous years CMC distributed turkeys at the Erma Hays center.  This was the first time the event was held at CMC.
